College for Creative Studies - MA/MFA PRogram
For the last seven years I have taught as an adjunct professor in the MA/MFA programs at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, one of the premier design colleges in the United States. It is an honor and a privilege to help shape future UX designers and leaders. While my focus is primarily UX students, I have also taught students in the Transportation Design, Integrated Design, Arts Education, Sustainable Design, and Color/Material Design programs.
In addition to lecture classes in Human Factors, User Research, and Contextual Research Design, I built from the ground up an advanced rapid prototyping lab and class. Students learn not only the basics of 3D printing, but advanced additive manufacturing techniques using both FDM (fused deposition modeling) and SLA (stereolithography). We are working on integrating bioplastics and sustainable printing into our lab, for the purpose of research and contributing to the development of more sustainable printing materials.
Finally, I served as the Interim Thesis Director for the UX program for school years 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 and wrote a substantial amount of curriculum for the soon to be launched online UX MA/MFA Program. I am also part of the program’s steering committee, ensuring we not only bring in the best and brightest future designers, but that our curriculum is continuously evolving to meet the latest demands and standards put on our students.
Current Classes: Human Factors (Fall) and Rapid Prototyping and Advanced Manufacturing (Winter).
Past Classes: Contextual Design Research, Integrated Research Design, Frameworks for Conversational Designs, Cybernetics, and UX Research.
